I'm enjoying the "space invaders" tile graffiti around Paris: http://www.space-invaders.com/. The best one is at Chatelet - the tiles subtly blend in with the fountain at the center of the plaza. It's the opposite of graffiti-as-defacement; its more like graffiti-as-grace-note.
I may be going to Amsterdam next weekend. I can't wait... I'm dying to see the Van Gogh Museum. I can kind of take or leave most Dutch art, though. Portraits of rich burghers, we get it already! I love me some Pieter Bruegel the father and son, though. If you have recommendations for what to do in Amsterdam, you have 1 week to let me know.
A couple of people have asked me about my favorite blogs, so I'm going to try to post one blog link a day:
Here's an old favorite: Caterina Fake, co-founder of flickr.com. She has a wide variety of interests, but she often writes about books, ideas and the net. Try this recent post.
Speaking of Flickr: Cal Henderson, flickr CTO/head engineer has a great link blog. 75% of his links are silly, but the other 25% are gold.
Also, I'm going to post a song every day. Menahan Street Band - Make The Road By Walking.
New Yorkers, listen up: You might want to check out: Henry Darger at the American Folk Museum and Camp Bisco.
