Basta Cosi, Part 3

So many things... I've been super busy.

Saturday morning, I finally saw the Galleria Colonna. Yet another palazzo filled with art... but special nonetheless. The collection was really superb - far better than the Palazzo Corsini, for example. Ghirlandaio and Bronzino, oh my.

When you see so much work in such a short time, connections emerge. You realize exactly how odd certain pieces are, how out of character. You see work from artists with distinctive styles in a completely different style. Guercino's work at the Colonna is quite fascinating in that respect.

I've been spending huge amount of time doing creative writing lately. Last week, I was spending mornings at the Biblioteca Nazionale which is a great place to write... and looks at Art Monographs, when you feel like procrastinating.

Sunday, however, I found the ultimate place to write. Along the Tiber are quays where they temporarily build cafe/bars in the Summer. Oddly, these cafe/bars are never open when I'm there. In short, you have your choice of 1,000 empty tables by the river. I chose a table by the dam at Isola Tiberina. Its like a front row seat at a short, broad waterfall. Its simply ideal.
